Cocagne is a village which played an important role when Acadians were expelled « Grand Remplacement ». Between 1755 et 1756, it has been used as a refugee camp.
Later, in 1767, Acadians expelled from Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon settled in Cocagne. The village economy is traditionally based on agriculture, forestry and fishery. During the second half of XXnd century, tourism came in addition. Many cottages testify to the tourist attraction of the village.
